Hi my name is Alison and I am the owner. Girl Boss. Chick in Charge. The buck stops here, you get the idea.

 

I’m originally from Scotland (that’s why you might hear a little twang in my voice). Grew up there until I met my husband (cameraman for those of you in the know) an American boy in the US Navy who was just lucky enough to be stationed in my hometown.

When eBay was born I started by selling antiques online. I loved the whole thing from start to finish and especially educating myself on pieces I found along the way. Although it was enjoyable it wasn’t my true passion. In 2001 my husband helped me change that without realizing it! He took me to New York City for my birthday and it just so happens that day we were walking past the Manolo Blahnik store, and there I saw them,  the silver Sedarby’s made famous by SATC. I went in the store asked how many they had , and purchased them all (cameraman just about passed out when he heard the total!) but trusted my vision. Every single pair sold online within two weeks and made some people extremely happy, and cameraman too! My business, my passion was born. With being married to a Naval officer we moved around the US giving me the ability to set up a relationship with people at high end luxury stores – giving me access to special deals and up-to-date fashion access. Relationships I have still today. I have a true passion for the pieces I sell. I try to find out as much as I can about the pieces. I think the clients love the history if its vintage or little titbits about designers etc. I personally collect Gucci and YSL Tom Ford and Lee McQueen pieces and can be occasionally talked into selling some of them. The store is a mixture of eclectic pieces some dating back 30 years, some current but all are either in excellent condition or dead stock / new with tags.

Authenticity is so very important to me, I honestly don’t think people realize just what they are doing when they purchase counterfeit (child labor, terrorism), so with this in mind I pay for Entrupy which takes microscopic pictures of purses to verify authenticity.
